General description

Loch Ochiltree is the Association’s premier loch and offers excellent fishing for brown and rainbow trout. Fly fishing is permitted over the whole loch with bait fishing restricted to part of the West Bank.  There are 4 boats available for hire and lifejackets must be worn, although these are not supplied.  Electric outboard engines only are allowed.The loch is stocked regulary with rainbow trout up to 7lbs although larger fish are caught each season.

Parking:

Loch Ochiltree is situated some 10 miles North of Newton Stewart.

From Newton Stewart head north on the A714.  After passing Clachaneasy turn left onto the single track road and continue for approximately 2 miles. The loch lies on the right and a track leads from the public road to the car park and boathouse.
