On 24 May 2026 we fished the Heb Cronnie Memorial, on our annual away day at Harelaw Trout Fishery and Coffee Shop.
20 anglers took part in what proved to be an unexpectedly challenging day, gusty winds and very bright sunshine, resulted in challenging conditions!
Despite the difficult conditions, the anglers in attendance had a great day, the Harelaw fish (for some) were up for the chase and looked at plenty of flies but in true Harelaw style, they proved difficult to tempt into a net, this ensured that everyone had sport of some sort – the fish that were caught, fin perfect with some chunky specimens thrown in for good measure!
Thanks must be passed, from all in attendance, to Ross and his staff at Harelaw for the first class hospitality shown – nothing is ever too much hassle, and it is a genuine pleasure to visit and support the fishery – the home grown fish really are a game changer and worth a visit even if it is just to see them cruising on the surface!
The result as follows;
1st – Robert Wilson – 5 fish for 10lb 10oz
2nd – John McMurray – 4 fish for 8lb 10oz
3rd – Calvin Steward – 2 fish for 6lb 2oz
Heaviest Fish – Eric Pearce – 4lb 14oz
Well done to all anglers who took part and thanks to Steven Cronnie Family Butcher for his generous donation of a pair of vouchers for the winner and heaviest fish in support of this match!
