Newton Stewart and District Angling Association are excited to announce that this year, our charity efforts are being solely directed to raise funds for Dumfries and Galloway Sands – Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society.

SANDS is a major UK charity that supports anyone affected by the loss of a baby, works to improve maternity care, and funds research to help save babies’ lives and the local branch offer excellent support to families affected in their critical time of need and beyond!

This charity is one close to everyone on your committees heart and one we are extremely proud to be pledging support to!

As some of you may know, this year is the 80th anniversary of NSDAA and we have decided to mark the occasion with a birthday celebration.

This event will take the form of a set meal, drinks, speakers, our ever popular auction and fundraising events, and music to end the night – a night to suit everyone!

Final plans are to be published, however early plans are that we will be looking to sell tables rather than tickets so please, gather up your friends and family and when tickets go on sale let’s make this night the biggest and best celebration the club has ever achieved!

We are also hosting our charity match at Loch Ochiltree (fly fishing) and Fyntalloch (bait fishing) on Saturday the 22nd of August 2026 which will be a cracking days fishing coupled with a raffle.

The proceeds of both events will go solely to the charity.

With that, comes the plea we are now actively on the look out for supporters for our events, we are looking for donations of prizes for our fishing matches, raffles, auctions and/or monetary donations towards our efforts. We will be doing our usual tagged fish element to the fishing matches so if you fancy sponsoring some fish please let us know – this is at £20 per fish.

Please note folks, this birthday event is NOT restricted to members or anglers, it is open to anyone, it is anticipated that we will be selling tables of 10, or half tables depending on interest, if you already know you want one please contact Scott directly and you will be penciled in and contacted when the final plans are made.
